James Kopa
James "Jim" Kopa, of Tunkhannock, died Wednesday in the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of Raymond Kopa Sr., Carbondale, and the late Dorothy O'Malley Kopa. A graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and Penn State University, he was employed by Emery World Wide, which became UPS, where he was director of electronic billing. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors.

The family would like to thank the staff of VNA Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to James.

Also surviving are two sons, Justin J. Kopa, Bronx, N.Y.; and Eric J. Kopa, Scranton; five brothers, Raymond Jr., Edward and Patrick, all of Carbondale; Michael Kopa, Waymart; and Robert Kopa, Riverside, Calif.; two grandchildren, Gordon and Myla; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two children, twins, Melissa and Jared.

A memorial Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, 18447.

Jim and I worked together at Emery for many years. We shared alot of laughs, stories and good times. "Kop" was a great person and will be truly missed by all who knew him

I worked for Jim at Emery and he was a great supervisor and fellow employee. We became more friends than co-workers. Jim will be missed by many that his life has touched.
I pray that Jim has now found peace in passing.
