Dr. James Patrick Noone, 82, of Auburndale, Florida, formerly Towanda, Pennsylvania, died Nov. 10 at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. Dr. Noone was born Oct. 27, 1941, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to George and Margaret (Wilson) Noone. He and his wife, the former Susan Ann Harpman, celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on Oct. 17.
Jim was a 1959 graduate of Scranton Preparatory School. He then attended the University of Scranton, the University of Texas, where he earned his Ph.D., and Thomas Jefferson University Medical School, where he earned his MD. He completed his residency at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., and practiced medicine at Towanda Memorial Hospital, the Bradford County Correctional Facility and from his home office at Lake Wesauking. Jim retired in 2002, but still enjoyed fond recollections of all the friends he made throughout his career.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; devoted daughter, Bridget Cook and her partner, Ryan Cash; a brother, George Noone (Donna); a sister, Margaret O'Hara (David); stepchildren, Sandra (Steve Sawyer) and David Bargainnier; an uncle, James Wilson (Nancy); nephews, grandchildren, cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, William.
Jim was a smart, independent and trustworthy individual. He had a passion for learning and was known for his sharp intellect. Jim appreciated witty banter, playing weekly trivia at Beef O'Brady's, spending his summers at Lake Wesauking, taking cruises across the world, enjoying time with loved ones and participating in tennis drills at the Cindy Hummel Tennis Center in Auburndale with his tennis pro and friend, Logan Allen.
A celebration of life was held Nov. 18 at Kersey Funeral Home, located at 108 Lake Stella Drive in Auburndale. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to the Lake Wesauking Conservancy at 138 Wesauking Drive, Towanda, PA 18848.
