James John Woodworth, 66, a lifelong resident of Lackawanna County, died Wednesday at Allied Hospice, Scranton.

He had dreams of becoming an attorney and he fulfilled those dreams by obtaining his law degree from Widener University. James was a beloved father, son and brother. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, fishing and water skiing at Chapman Lake. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated more than 30 years of sobriety, helping many others on their paths to recovery.

He is survived by his daughter Jamie Woodworth, Jessup; his mother, Claire Woodworth, Peckville; a brother, Doug Woodworth; a sister, Jacquelin Silcox; a niece and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Woodworth.

A memorial service will be held Saturday morning at 11:30 in the Hedley W. Mason Funeral Home, 436 Main St., Peckville. Friends and family may call 10:30 to 11:30.

Lots of great memories with my childhood buddy Jimmy John at the lake. So happy we got together a few years ago and had talked recently. His infectious laugh will remain with me always. Claire, Jacki & Doug you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Jimmy was a good friend. When we were young we spent many a good time together. Jim was my best man when I was married in Brooklyn in 1983. I will always have a place in my heart for Jim. RIP my friend.
