Joan E. Rudick, 83, of Kingsley, died Thursday at Barnes-Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility, Susquehanna, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Sammy Rudick, on Jan. 8, 2020.
Born June 16, 1937, in East Lemon, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances Kowski Drabik.
Joan was devoted to her family and will be fondly remembered for her terrific cooking and baking skills. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Known for her famous sweet tooth, she would always prefer desert as her main meal. Joan was an animal lover and was an ardent supporter of animal rescue agencies. She will be deeply missed by her cat, Scooter, who was her constant companion.
The family expresses thanks to the staff of the Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility for their kind and compassionate care.
She is survived by five children, Carolyn Alloway and husband, Walt of Glenolden, David Rudick and wife, Peggy of Phoenix, Ariz., Greg Rudick of Clifford, Bonnie Kleha of Sayreville, N.J., and Jeffery Rudick and wife, Ann of New Milford; seven grandchildren, Janet, Cathy, Tracy, Justin, Alisha, Julia and William; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Drabik; and five sisters, Josephine Avery, Florence Gellatt, Frances Holmes-Hoppfer, Mary and Dorothy Drabik.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, with the Rev. Bonnie Resseguie officiating. Interment, South Gibson Cemetery, South Gibson.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Those attending are kindly asked to wear a mask.
