John Robert Dippre, 89, of Roaring Brook Twp. passed away on Friday at home surrounded by his loving family. Married on June 22, 1963 to the former Lillian (Davis), the couple celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John Adolph and Sophie (Schick) Dippre. He graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1952, proudly served in the United States Army and before retiring, worked as a machinist at Modern Machine Shop in South Scranton.
Jack was an avid baseball fan and had an extensive collection of Matchbox cars. He was a quiet and humble man, who loved nothing more than to be in the company of his family and friends.
In addition to his wife Lillian, Jack is survived by his children, Susan Franson and her companion, Jeff Walker, of Mt. Arlington, N.J.; John S. Dippre and his wife, Sharon, of Hatboro; and James Dippre and his wife, Christine, of Clarks Summit; his brother, Kenneth Dippre and his wife, Carol, of Roaring Brook Twp.; his grandchildren, Michael, Drew, Evan and Aiden; his great-granddaughter, Lillian Grace; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Dippre; and his loving caregiver who was like a second mother to him, Marion Thomas.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Elmhurst, 108 Maple St. in Elmhurst Twp. with military honors rendered following the service. Interment will be private in Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services LLC, 3 First St. in Spring Brook Twp.
