Joseph A. DiVanna, 87, of South Abington Twp., passed away suddenly on Sept. 2, 2024. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine DiVanna, and his second wife, Leona Burke DiVanna.
Born in Raritan, N.J., he was the son of the late Alfred and Adele DiVanna. Joe was employed with Mack Trucks for 31 years. He then worked for Computer Aid, Akzo Salt and Cargill.
Joe had a lust for life and enjoyed jogging, golfing, boxing, going to the casino, horse racing, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. He was truly a role model to many with living life to the fullest. He is known for his love of jogging and has run countless 5k's, 10k's and the JFK 50-miler four times. Joe started jogging in 1967. At the age of 87 he could still run a 5k in 32 minutes. A true "champion," Joe was extremely active and belonged to many groups including the Abington Senior Center, especially the Koffee Klatch Group, Scranton Running Co. Barrier Breakers and the golf leagues at Panorama Golf Course. He touched many lives in such a positive way and had numerous friends. Joe had traveled to many states and countries but his favorite places to visit were the Saratoga Race Course and the Boxing Hall of Fame.
He recently met his companion and girlfriend, Sally Quinlin-Sheridan. Joe and Sally enjoyed traveling and spending time together. In addition, he is survived by his children, Joseph DiVanna Jr. (Isabel), Lori DiVanna (Garry) and Anthony DiVanna (Lisa); three grandsons, Francis DiVanna, Michael DiVanna (Kelsey) and Leonardo DiVanna; two great-grandchildren, Salvatore Zuber and Annabelle Grace DiVanna; a brother, Al DiVanna; several nieces and nephews.
