Joseph Andrew Dubill, 91, passed away on Dec. 20, 2022, accompanied by his children in his last hours.
Born in the coal mining town of Simpson, Pa., to John and Sophie Dubill, he graduated from Fell Township High School and Lackawanna Business College.
He began his 38-year career in communications and logistics with the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C., including 6 months of service with the U.S. Army.
Early overseas assignments included Japan and Nicosia, Cyprus, where he met and married Marlene Leckey in 1959. They raised three children in Vienna, Va. and Alice Springs, Australia.
Joe enjoyed traveling, volunteering, photography, sports, model trains, polka music, gardening, his swim group, fellow retiree gatherings, and especially frequent restaurant dinners with his wife.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula and Patricia; one son, Thomas (Irene); one cousin, Robert Dubill (Mary), one sister-in-law, Vona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlene, and his sister Bertine.
His celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolftrap Road S.E., Vienna, VA 22182. Visitation at 10 a.m., mass is at 11 a.m. followed by a lunch reception at 12 p.m.; interment is at 2 p.m., Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
