Joseph William Fiori Jr., 91, of West Scranton, died Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Grace M. Capwell, in 2004.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph W. Sr. and Pompalia Terrinoni Fiori, Joseph was a member of St. Lucy's Church, Scranton, and was a United States Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. Before retirement, he was a lifelong employee at A.E. Peters Associates, working there for more than 50 years.
Joseph was always there for everyone. He was dedicated to his family, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Mason.
He is survived by his daughters, Kara Munley, Scranton; and Nancy Capwell, Dunmore; grandchildren, David Capwell and wife, Anita; Barry Capwell Jr. and wife, Dayna; Ryan Fiori and fiancée, Macy Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Kessler, Christa Capwell, Jordan Capwell and another great-grandchild on the way; a great-great-grandson, Jaxon Kessler; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Barry Capwell; sisters, Anna Ludovici, Antoinette D'Annibale, Helen Fontine and Mary Pancaldi; and brother, Frank Fiori.
The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, Scranton Street, West Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. All those attending are asked to follow current safety guidelines in respect to wearing a mask and social distancing.
