Mary Esgro Obituary

Mary A. Esgro, a resident of the Lackawanna County Health Care Center, Peckville, died Wednesday morning at the center. She was the widow of John Siko and the widow of Dominick Esgro.

Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Josephine Chykosky. She attended Jessup schools and before retirement, she was employed by Barbizon, Jessup. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Jermyn.

Mary was a wonderful baker and cook. She enjoyed crocheting and working in her vegetable garden. She loved her family dearly and was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Her family would like to send a special "thank you" to the employees and staff of the Lackawanna County Health Care Center and to AseraCare Hospice, for the kindness and care given to their mother.

Surviving are three daughters, Josie Memo and husband, Paul; and Pauline Pambianco and husband, Louis, all of Eynon; and Patricia Mursch, Carbondale; four stepsons, Frank Esgro, Jessup; Joseph and John Esgro, both of Jermyn; and Dominick Esgro Jr., Carbondale; three stepdaughters, Catherine Whiting and Mary Tochelli, both of Jermyn; and Helen Jiordano, Melvindale, Mich.; three brothers, Edward Rusavage, Eynon; and Joseph and Frank Rusavage; two sisters, Josephine Baldelli and Rose Troiani, both of Jessup; numerous grandchildren, especially her caregiver, Anna Esgro Frisbee, Jermyn; great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four daughters, Helen Siko, Jennie Siko, Anna Esgro and Veronica Morcom; two sons, Stanley Siko and John Siko; a stepson, Harry Esgro; brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Mary Church, 624 Madison Ave., Jermyn, to be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Shoback, pastor. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing. Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church. Arrangements by the Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church St. Archbald.
