Mary Jugan, 88, of Jermyn, died Tuesday at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband was the late Joseph Jugan.
Born in Mid-Valley, daughter of the late Thomas and Amelia Angradi Panetti, she worked as a seamstress at various dress factories and most recently at the Convenient Market in Jermyn. Mary loved nothing more than cooking and baking for her family. She was known for her homemade macaroni and pierogies as well as her outstanding fried dough at the William Walker Corn and Clam Slam. She took great pride in her roses that could be seen throughout her yard. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Kuzmak and husband, James, Jermyn; a son, Joseph Jugan and wife, Rose Mary, Carbondale; a son, Thomas Jugan and wife, Rebecca, Mayfield; grandchildren, James Kuzmak and wife, Cheryl, Throop, Kevin Jugan, Carbondale, and Thomas and Luke Vinansky, Mayfield; great-granddaughter, Lia Rose Kuzmak; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Louie and Robert; and sisters, Lucy, Catherine, Helen, Eleanor and Carmel.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Charles A. Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, 624 Madison Ave., Jermyn. Interment, St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon.
Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church. A viewing will be held Sunday at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m.
