Michael "Mike" Dolan, 80, of Throop, died Thursday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore after an illness. His loving wife of 56 years is the former Kathleen Halkovic.
Born in Peckville, son of the late James and Frances McNally Dolan, he was a graduate of Scott High School, and a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church in Throop, where he served as an officer with the Holy Name Society, and sang in the church choir. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a radio operator, and prior to his retirement, worked as a security guard at the Keystone Landfill. He enjoyed singing, music, cats and reading.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bria Tinsley, the staffs at Regional Hospital, The Gardens of Scranton and Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore for the wonderful care that they provided.
In addition to his wife Kathleen, he is survived by one son, Eric Dolan and partner Karen Spitz of Meridian, Idaho; one daughter, Kelly Anne Dolan of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Nora, Jeffrey and Brissa; one sister, Dolores (Dee Dee) Moon of Washington state; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, William, James, Gerald and Edward; and one sister, Ann Vesey.
There are no funeral home viewing hours. The services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions, in Mike's name, can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter and/or Blessed Sacrament Parish in Throop.
