Michael Kneiss Jr., 72, an Old Forge native and formerly of Taylor, died Sunday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, after an illness.
Born in Old Forge on Jan. 22, 1951, Michael was the son of the late Michael Sr. and Caroline (Pracki) Kneiss, whom he cared for at a young age. A graduate of Old Forge High School, class of 1969, for three decades he had worked for RCA - Thomson Electronics in Scranton before earning his degree in biohazard technology from Johnson College. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Clarks Summit State Hospital. He loved his Sunday NFL football and was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his family, including two children, Lori Reagan and husband, Ronald, of Virginia; and Michael Kneiss III, of Old Forge; three grandchildren, Katelyn, Kristen and Sarah Yurkavage; two brothers, Paul Kneiss and companion, Jane, of New York; and Carl Kneiss, of Old Forge; and his former wife and friend, Marion Genova and husband, John, of Old Forge. A beloved son, Theodore "Ted" Kneiss, preceded him in death on July 5, 2001.
Michael's family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Dunmore Health Care Center for the kindness and care provided over the past two years.
Blessing services by the Rev. August Ricciardi, Prince of Peace pastor, will be private from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St. in Old Forge, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
