Michael Marinchak Obituary
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Bernice Gallagher Marinchak, Scranton, and the late George E. Marinchak III. A 1979 graduate of West Scranton High School, he was employed by the city of Scranton in the DPW and Parks and Recreation departments.
Michael was a loving husband, father, son, brother and a friend to many, as well as being an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Scranton, and the American Ukrainian Veterans, Scranton.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Jr. and Mark, both of Scranton; a daughter, Stephanie, Philadelphia; a brother, George E. III and wife, Diane, Scranton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eugene and Margaret Kurey, Ransom Twp.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary, on Aug. 2.
Viewing for family and friends will be Saturday from 2 to 5:30 p.m. in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton. Services will be at 5:30 in the funeral home by the Rev. Stephen Krowantka, associate pastor of St. Patrick's Parish. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. My heartfelt condolences to the entire Marinchak family on their recent loss of Gary, and now Michael. "I've been honored to know the Marinchak's and their stature at the UKAVETS should be a legacy of pride for all of them. Monk is a name only spoken in certain circles, and Bernice's radiant smile had been the envy of many!" George, Gary, and Michael; brothers nonetheless. "The three of them together at the UKAVETS many years ago, could easily excite a riot, their joyful laughter that followed the banter was contagious!" We all had to laugh just as hard with them! "Mike had always spoke fondly and lovingly of his family; wife Lori, sons Michael Jr., Mark, and daughter Stephanie. May you keep Mike forever in your hearts, and never doubt his love for all of you!" He touched so many lives, in so many ways, through his thoughfulness and helpfulness. Always a gentleman, and someone I can call a friend. Mike's sidekick Paul Richards was either the horse before the cart, or soon to follow. "When one walked through the door at the UKAVETS, I expected the other to follow." Mike was hardworking, proud of his family, and a good friend to so many! "Mike's voice will forever linger with me. I had jokingly called him Nick throughout the years (... Nolte). "Nick couldn't shine Mike's workboots!" May Mike rest in peace, finally free of pain. "May we cherish our memories of him, and always remember the man we had all been so lucky to know!" Deepest sympathies to all, both family and friends. "May God Bless Mike Marinchak, a true UKE!"
