Nancy Swiencki Obituary

Nancy A. Swiencki, 67, of West Scranton, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital. Her husband of 47 years is Edward S. Swiencki.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur B. and Olwen Coleman Hale. She was lovingly called "Miss Nancy" by everyone who knew her. She was the preschool teacher at the Charles Sumner school from its inception in the district until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Association of Retired Teachers. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, class of 1958, and was a graduate of West Chester State College in 1962. She was a member of the Hyde Park Presbyterian Church.

Miss Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed being with her grandchildren, who called her Mamie. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.

Also surviving are three daughters, Nanine and husband, Michael Gramigna; Megan and husband, Pat DeSarno; and Trina and husband, Tim Lavelle, all of Scranton; four grandchildren, Tara and Autumn Gramigna, Olwen DeSarno and Lainey Lavelle; four brothers, Wilbur B. Hale Jr. and wife, Joann, Chester, Vt.; John E. Hale and wife, Audrey, Brigantine, N.J.; Donald P. Hale and wife, Peg, Windsor, N.Y.; and Theodore R. Hale and wife, Carole, Charlotte, N.C.; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Davies and Jones Funeral Chapel Inc., 135 S. Main Ave. Interment, Washburn Street Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Hyde Park Presby­terian Church, Washburn Street and South Hyde Park Avenue, 18504.
