Patricia Clare (Kappral) Chapman, 84, formerly of Scranton, Pa., passed away Jan. 15, 2021, in Mulberry, Florida, where she lived with her husband, Don, for the past nine years.
Pat, known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Chapman, California; son, Richard Chapman and wife, Regina Chapman; daughter, Lori Chapman; brother, Robert Chapman and wife, Marianne (all in Florida); 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Scranton, Pat was the youngest of five children (Joseph, Thomas, Henrietta and Marion) born to Frances Novak and Joseph Kappral. After graduating from St. Patrick High School, Pat became a bookkeeper for two local businesses while raising their three children. She then worked for PPL Electric Utilities and retired in 1985. Pat was an avid bowler who proudly displayed championship trophies she won with her husband or her bowling team.
Both Pat and her husband Don would tell stories of the fun they had playing cards with their friends when the children were small, and her love of "gaming" eventually expanded to her love of playing an occasional slot machine! We loved watching her play. After moving to an active senior community in Florida, Pat could be seen playing golf with hubby or the ladies, strategizing with her bocce ball team, and sliding into the occasional round of shuffleboard. Keeping up with technology over the years, Pat loved using social media to stay in touch with her children, grandchildren, family and friends, especially her high school pals!
A Celebration of Life event and Mass will be held for Pat in Mulberry, Florida, on Nov. 27, 2021.
