Peter Borick, 97, of Herrick Center, died Tuesday at home. His wife is the former Marian Maslar. The couple would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in September.
Born in Olyphant, son of the late Metro and Elizabeth Guman Borick, he was a member of St. John's Byzantine Church, Forest City. He was educated in the Herrick Center and Pleasant Mount schools. Before his retirement in 1987, Peter worked at Specialty Records in Olyphant. He had previously been employed by PennDOT and Agway. He was an active sportsman, fisherman, hunter, gardener and loved to make rag carpets. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved being with his family.
Also surviving are two sons, Peter M. Borick and wife, Carol, Berwick; and Anthony J. Borick and wife, Margee, Manlius, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Carissa L. Hench and husband, Seth; Adam J. Borick and wife, Kimberly; and Kacie Noelle Borick; a great-granddaughter, Carter Lane Borick; a sister, Veronica Krall, Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Peter M. Borick Jr.; four sisters, Anna Abbruzze, Mary Howells, Helen Borick and Elizabeth Flora; and two brothers, George and Paul Borick.
The funeral will be Friday with services at 10 a.m. in the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City, by the Rev. John Cigna, pastor of St. John's Byzantine Church. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Forest City.
