Peter J. Gigliotti Sr., 92, New Castle, Del., formerly of Carbondale, peacefully passed away Wednesday at Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, Del.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Peter and Mary Cerra Gigliotti, he was a Navy veteran during the Korean War. He retired from Twin County Grocers in Edison, N.J. Peter enjoyed retirement, spending time outside talking with his neighbors, bragging about his grandchildren and was an avid New York Giants fan.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Gigliotti, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Maria Gigliotti, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Peter Gigliotti III, Maura Gigliotti, Stephanie Stanseski, Benjamin Stanseski and Christina Gigliotti; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Josephine Grecco Gigliotti; a son, Peter Gigliotti Jr.; four brothers, James Gillott, Gerard Gigliotti, Anthony (Sheriff) Gigliotti and Joseph (Ditcho) Gillette.
The family will receive friends Monday in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale, from 10 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp. Friends in Delaware are welcome to join the family for a prayer service Tuesday, June 15, at 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bear, Del.
