Raymond A. Bolcavage, 83, of Harford, died Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Karen J. Lutz. They were married Dec. 3, 1971.
Born Aug. 23, 1940, in South Gibson, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Kupstas Bolcavage. Ray was a 1958 graduate of Mountain View High School and a member of their track and field team. His senior year Ray took fifth place in pole vaulting at the state championship. Ray served in the United States Army and after military service he dedicated 28 years as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 46, and the American Legion Gardner Warner Post 154, Montrose.
Ray was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. He was a beloved baseball coach for the Harford Little League and was assistant baseball coach at Mountain View High School for many years. Ray loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sons, Jeffrey Bolcavage, of Clifford Twp.; and Matthew Bolcavage, of Acre Lake; four grandchildren, Natalie, Landon, Joseph and Madisyn Bolcavage; two brothers, Richard Bolcavage, of Endwell, N.Y.; and Ted Bolcavage, of Archbald; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Bolcavage.
A blessing service followed by military honors will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford. Interment, South Gibson Cemetery at a later date.
Viewing hours will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
