Robert Geiger Obituary

Robert W. Geiger, 87, died Monday at Allied Terrace, where he resided for the past four years. He was the husband of Marjorie Graff Geiger, who died in 2008.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Robert W. and Loretta Lonsdorf Geiger, he was a member of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Parish until it's closure, where he was a lector and past president of the parish council. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, class of 1943, and was the class president. He was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral. He served as a tech sergeant, grade 5, during World War ll in the Army, 104th Infantry Division.

Bob retired from the U.S. Post Office and served as president of Branch 17, National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a partner in Stahl's Used Cars and, after retirement, he was employed by Terry's Auto. He had a great love of automobiles and could disassemble a car and reassemble it. He knew every make and model. Bob could fix anything perfectly, one call and he was there with his toolbox. Bob enjoyed his stay at Allied Terrace, especially his poker games. He was a member of the Allied Terrace Troubadors Choral Group and was treasurer of the Allied Terrace Resident Council. He was also a member of the welcoming committee at Allied Terrace. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Allied Terrace and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the care given to Bob.
