Rose Ghirelli Obituary

Rose M. Ghirelli, age 85, formerly of Montdale, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 16, 2015, at Carbondale Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Her husband of over 50 years was Elio Ghirelli, who died in 2007.

Born in Jessup on Nov. 7, 1929, daughter of the late Guglielmo (William) and Josephine Santarelli Augustini, Rose was a graduate of Jessup High School, class of 1947. Rose resided in Jessup in her younger life and moved to Montdale after she married Elio. Rose's most important and sole mission in life was to be a mother to her two children, Cindy and Rob, and was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband, Elio.

Rose worked later in her life, when her children were grown, in the local garment industry and also several years at the Lackawanna Long Term Care Facility in the dietary department. Rose was employed at the Lackawanna Long Term Care Facility until her retirement, in 2006 to take care of her husband, who was diagnosed with cancer.

Rose resided in Montdale for over 50 years and was a member of Grace Bible Church, Dunmore. Rose resided the last several years with her daughter, Cindy Hudzik and husband, Mike, at their home in Archbald, while battling cancer and her later diagnosis with Alzheimer's, until the illness had progressed to the point that she required professional care. Rose was cared for at the Carbondale Nursing Home from June 2014 until her passing.

She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and mother-in-law to her family. Rose was the most thoughtful and unselfish person. Her kind, thoughtful and generous demeanor is what defined her. Rose was a very strong and determined person, who never complained about anything that life presented her at any time. Rose would persevere with a smile.

Rose wanted for nothing and was content with the simple things in life, and her main satisfaction was giving to others or making others happy. She put her family first above all else and would give you everything she had, never worrying about herself. Rose put all her trust in the Lord and was a devoted Christian.

Rose's confidence was in the Lord as he would provide. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Rose, if only for a brief moment, would leave with a lasting impression of her kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity.

Also surviving are a son, Rob, and his two children, Nina and Natalia, all of Montdale. Rose adored her two grandchildren Nina and Natalia.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Carbondale Nursing Home for their dedicated and loving care that they provided to Rose and our family, especially Virginia, Erin, Holly and all the girls on 200 hall.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, with services at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, Dunmore, by the Rev. Terry Ribble. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Jessup.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
