Rudolph J. (Rudy) Kunz, 86, of Endwell, N.Y., and formerly of Dunmore, Pa. and Lake Sheridan, Nicholson, Pa., passed away on Saturday at his home. He was born on June 22, 1935, in Scranton, Pa., to the late Rudolph and Beatrice (Harwood) Kunz. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen (Judge) Kunz, in 2010; his brother, Walter Kunz, in 2021; and his granddaughter, Nicole Edwards, in 2001. He greatly missed his wife of 51 years.
Surviving are children, Rudolph Kunz (IV) and wife, Maria (Regan); Karen Kunz; and Ann Edwards and husband, Rich; and grandchildren, Aidan, Brendan and Sean Kunz, and Ryan and Jessica Edwards.
He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and attended Penn State University (Scranton Campus). He joined the United States Navy Reserves, serving as a radioman on the USS Ticonderoga, an aircraft carrier, while working as a manufacturing engineer for IBM in Owego and Endicott, N.Y., until his retirement.
"Bunkie" loved to fish, operate the CB radio, play the piano and work on his model railroad, and was a member of the Endicott Elks Lodge. He was a founding member of the Dunmore Historical Society, and was deeply involved in genealogy until his death.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He loved to tell a story and was one of a kind. Fair winds and following seas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 25, at noon in St. Mary's Church, 334 St. Mary's Church Road, Lake Ariel, Pa., with services by the Rev. Stephen Stavoy, pastor.
Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, Pa. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Ledgedale.
