RuthAnn C. "Ruthie" Burns, 68, of Mayfield, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, at her residence. Her loving husband of 50 years is Richard "Rick" Burns Jr.
RuthAnn was born in Mayfield, Pa., on Oct. 20, 1952, a daughter of the late Kathryn (Daniels) and Frank Piwowarski. Ruthie worked for the Penn State Cooperative Extension in Lackawanna County and was the 4-H organization leader of Lackawanna County and a former Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed spending time with the family during the holidays, crocheting, crafting, collecting post cards, bingo and traveling.
The family would like to thank Judy and Kathy from HHCP for the loving care they gave to Ruthie.
RuthAnn is survived by four daughters, Jeanette Burns, Apex, N.C.; Rebecca Burns, Dalton, Pa.; Danielle and husband, Brian Paciotti, Jessup, Pa.; and Alicia and husband, Oscar James, Mayfield, Pa.
RuthAnn is also survived by two sisters, Rita Pisanti, Mayfield; Joanie Vihroski, Archbald; four brothers, Frank Piwowarski Jr., Dumfries, Va.; Raymond Piwowarski, Calabash, N.C.; Leonard Piwowarski, Archbald; Richard Piwowarski, Scott Twp.; and an uncle, Joseph Piwowarski; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Hoelzel.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Monica and her husband, Alfonso Castro; Mateo Smith, Abreonna and Damian Surridge, Blake and Katarina Borick, Angelo and Mia Paciotti, Donta Burns and Veronica Reid; and two great-grandchildren, Eli Shields and Sophia Forba.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Ryczak-Harrison Funeral Home Inc., 901 Lackawanna Ave., Mayfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, formerly St. Thomas Aquinas, 429 Church St., Archbald. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale. Viewing will be held Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Grief never ends but it changes...
It´s a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith... it is the price of love. Ruthie gave her all to her life, family & friends. Rest well til we meet again.

Ruth was a wonderful person and brought so much joy to so many classrooms in Lackawanna County with the 4H embryology program.

I enjoyed the time that I met with Ruthie through 4-H. She was so helpful and kind. We attended an event with the students, at which Martin Luther King´s daughter spoke. I´m so glad for the time I got to spend with Ruthie. Praying for you and your family. My sincere condolences,
