Samuel J. Borgna (Sam), 76 of Scott Twp., formerly of Olyphant, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 24, at Aventura at Terrace View after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's. His wife of 49 years is the former Marcy Kennedy.
Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Sam and Regina Pegula Borgna. He was a graduate of Olyphant High School, Class of '65 and received a Captain's Charter license from the U.S. Coast Guard and ran a chartering business called Sunshine Charters for 18 years. He previously worked at Borgna's Auto Body Shop. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard for a period of six years. He resided in Scott Twp. for the past 40 years after moving from Olyphant. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville, and the Sportsman Club in Sandy Pond, New York.
He is survived by the greatest love of his life, his wife and best friend Marcy. Together their life was filled with many adventures that created lifelong friendships and cherished memories. His second love was the time he spent fishing on the many rivers and lakes at his second home in Sandy Pond, New York. He also loved collecting and restoring antique bicycles. His furry friend Marley will miss him dearly.
The family would like to sincerely thank Allied Hospice and the nurses and aides at Aventura Terrace rehabilitation center for the excellent care they provided during his journey to our Lord.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, or your favorite charity.
Also surviving are a brother, Johnny Borgna, Olyphant; and three sisters, Delores Hodorovich and husband John, Archbald; Rose LoCascio and husband Vincent, Monticello; and Stephanie Sembrat and husband, George, Johnson City; sisters-in-law, Karen Sparks and husband Roger Peckville, and Barbara Shalkowski, Dickson City; and several nieces and nephews.
