Stephen A. Kacer, 81, passed away on April 4, 2020, in Daytona Beach, Fla.
He is survived by his son, Stephen M. Kacer, of Carbondale, Pa.; his daughter, Patricia (Kacer) Turano, of Carbondale.; and his grandson, Vincent Turano, of Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Grace (Baldwin) Kacer; his grandson, Timothy Turano, of Carbondale; and his brothers, Frank Kacer, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Joseph Kacer, of Brewer, Maine; and his sister, Barbara (Kacer) Bednash, of Eynon, Pa.
Stephen was born Jan. 11, 1939, in Carbondale, son of the late Joseph Kacer and Justine (Kutch) Kacer. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Rose High School. He worked for several local garages early on, Hendrix Manufacturing for 20 years, as a self-employed contractor, and was building superintendent for Tri-County Tri-Human Services until his retirement. He was a great family man, and a loving father and grandfather. Stephen was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the Cottage Hose and the Pa. Fire Police for the majority of his life. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, gardening, camping, fishing and hunting. His family and friends will always remember him as a hardworking man with many talents and a great sense of humor, he was a friend to all.
A funeral is scheduled for 5 p.m. on June 17 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River St., Carbondale. Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Stephen's life.
