Victoria Bunevitch Obituary

Victoria T. Bunevitch passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del., after suffering a stroke. She was born in Scranton, Pa., on Sept. 6, 1921, daughter of the late Matthew and Marcella Janulavich Bunevitch.

During World War II, she supported our nation's war effort by working in a defense plant in Bridgeport, Conn., and later moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. She was employed there as a production supervisor for Murray Electric Supply Company and, in Manhattan, as a clerk for Commercial Union and the Zurich Insurance Company. After retiring to Bethany Beach, Del., she worked until the age of 92 in a UPS Store, owned by her beloved niece and nephew, Joan and John Barrett. There she became known to the entire town as "Aunt Vicki."

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five sisters, infant twins, Anna and Mary, Catherine, Irene Martin (Joseph) and Helen Lyncheski (Leo); and five brothers, Anthony (Anna), Joseph (Anna), John (Edna), Frank (Helen) and Peter (Connie). She was also preceded in death by nieces, Marcella Jeye and husband, Edward; and Susan Yestrumskas; and nephews, Edward and George Bonevitch.

Aunt Vicki is survived by loving nieces and nephews, Robert and Agnes Lyncheski, John and Joan Lyncheski Barrett, Joseph and Carol Bonavich, Thomas and Lynn Bonavich, Robert and Betty Bonevitch, Michael and Karen Bunevitch Conti, Scott and Joyce Bonavich Parkin, Vincent and Barbara Bonavich O'Hop, Robert and Paula Martin Zech and Martina Martin and her husband, Don Struke; and several grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Sunday, June 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. Victoria's life will be celebrated at a later date with a memorial service at St. Ann's Church, Bethany Beach, Del., where she walked to attend Mass almost every day.
