Walter R. Rusak, 87, of Olyphant, went to his eternal home on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at home, his fight with Parkinson's is over. Walter suffered but he kept fighting to keep going. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Pauline Jones Rusak, the love of his life.
Walter was born on Nov. 15, 1936, to the late Walter and Julia Malski Rusak. He lived in Olyphant most of his life and was a former member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Olyphant. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Olyphant, and Johnson Tech. He started his career at Eureka Specialty Printers, where he met his wife, Mary Pauline, moved on to work in Waymart and retired from Hutchinson Printing, Mayfield.
Walter was a paperboy, a Boy Scout, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and was the last founding member of the Finch Hill Rod and Gun Club, which he helped establish in 1953. He loved being up at the cabin and went on many hunting and fishing trips. He was also an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
Surviving are his children, Janet Zadzura and husband Dan, Sue Blackledge, Walter M. Rusak and Leslie, John Rusak, Marilyn Woyshnar and husband Jack; grandchildren, his beloved Danielle and fiancé Tyler, Josh Rusak and Liz, and Zack Woyshnar; his brother and sister-in-law, who he had many lunches and dinners with, Danny and Pat Jones; several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and one cousin. He is also survived by his fur son, Barney.
Walter was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Dave Jones, whom he spent a lot of time with; and his ex-wife, Mary Rita; his brother, Richard Rusak; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, on Monday, Nov. 27, from 3 to 6 p.m. A blessing service will be held at the funeral home by Father Senior William Chromey at 6 p.m. For directions or to leave online condolences, visit the funeral home website.
