Catherine M. Ehardt

Traverse City

 Catherine (Kitty) M. Ehardt, 80, of Traverse City, formerly of Lexington, died Monday, November 18th, 2013, in Traverse City.

She was born December 28, 1932 in Croswell, MI, daughter of the late Harvey and Ellen (Heilig) Matthews.  She and the late Robert (Bob) H. Ehardt were married on May 2, 1953 at St Denis Catholic Church in Lexington and enjoyed 54 years of marriage together until his passing on January 22, 2008.

Kitty spent the majority of her life raising her family in the Lexington, MI area and was active in sports such as golf & softball, along with organizations that she or Bob belonged to such as the Lexington Fire Department and Lexington VFW Post.  She was a Bookkeeper for her husband's carpentry business and for the Lexington Cemetery.  Kitty will be remembered as an avid card player, who always enjoyed a good game with friends!  She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington and Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme.

As a devoted and loving mother Kitty is survived by her four sons; Stephen (Ardis) of Lexington, Paul (Helen) of Rochester, John (Robin) of Traverse City, and Phillip (Kelly) of Lake Orion; eight grandchildren; Allen, Erica, Lauren, Douglas, Nicholas, Nicole, Danielle, and Andrew; and two sisters, Helene Martin of Tomball, TX and Mary Ellen Tabar of Washington, MI.

Kitty was preceded in death by brothers Henry and Patrick Matthews.

Viewing will be at 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Friday and 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Sat. at Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23rd at the Ave Maria - St Denis Catholic Church. Fr. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate.   Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Village of Lexington Fire Department.
