Fort Gratiot
Jake Austin Ward, 21, of Fort Gratiot, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016.
Jake was born June 2, 1995 in Detroit. He graduated from Port Huron Northern High School in 2014 and attended St. Clair County Community College for one year. He enjoyed music, his guitar and the outdoors. Jake loved working with his brother Reid. He recently traveled to Texas and Colorado. Jake liked helping people, he was very compassionate and loved his friends and family.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, John and Nicole Ward; his mother, Renee Ward; two sisters, Madonna (Erik Snyder) Charboneau and Lauren London; two brothers, Reid (Julie) Charboneau and Ryan London; grandparents, Jim & Barb Ward and John & Mary Petz; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard & Shirley Rohrer.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 in Hillside Wesleyan Church, 5114 North River Road, Clyde Township, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Nathan Neihof will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital of Detroit or Wishes of the Family.

Jake passed away when I was 15. I am now 18. I went to his funeral. And I still think about him everyday. He was the older brother that protected. He taught me to play guitar. And I love him. Fly high Jake. 2/28/2020

My deepest sympathy to the family. I only met Jake on a few occasions but I know Jake and my son were very close. It was a pleasure to be able to meet and talk with him the few times I did.

I'm sorry to the Family of Jake Ward for his passing he will be forever missed like i posted on Facebook i Still remember when i first met him in class i was still shy thought he was a bully sorta i wasn't ready to make friends right away in that class i was trying to survive it. when i met him later on through school in the bathroom which is the place where he said my name and then said his i then knew he was a nice guy from then on. though he will be missed he will never be forgotten and always will be remembered.
