Joe "Gator" Bertrand Jr.

Algonac

Joe "Gator" Bertrand Jr., age 59, of Algonac, died August 16, 2014. He was born November 4, 1954 in Detroit. Joe served his country with the U.S. Marines from 1974 to 1976. Joe married Sue "Gator's Tale" on November 25, 1977. He coached Little League in Algonac for 14 years. He was a proud member of the AMVETS Post #29 in Mt. Clemens where he also served as Commander. Joe worked for the Detroit Arsenal for over 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years Sue Bertrand; children, Jessica (Tom) Wright and Joseph III (Jennifer) Bertrand; grandchildren, Carter, Colin, Lexi and JoeB; sisters, Denise (Dave) West, Annette (Rick) Vernier, Gloria Bertrand and Christina Bertrand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Gloria Bertrand; sister, Michelle Santoro; and brother, Eugene Bertrand.

Funeral service will be Saturday August 23rd at 3:00 p.m. followed by Military Honors at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.  Services will conclude with a 4:00 p.m. motorcycle procession. Visitation hours are Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to AMVETS Post # 29, 1 Amvets Dr. Mt. Clemens, MI 48043.
