Michael Leen Obituary

Michael J. Leen Carsonville Michael John Leen, 78, of Carsonville, passed away June 25, 2008. He was born on June 20, 1930 to John and Hannah Leen. Mike was a graduate of East Detroit High School and Michigan State University. He lived in the thumb area since 1952 as a farmer and a teacher, teaching in the Carsonville Port Sanilac Schools for 24 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Sandusky Knights of Columbus (Past Grand Knight). Mike is survived by his wife, Ruth; seven children: John (Christina) Leen of Carsonville, Julie (Ken) Western of Croswell, Michael (Julie) Leen of Carsonville, Mary (Terry) Gallagher of Peck, Anne (Matt) Wood of Marlette, James (Cindy) Leen of Carsonville, and Tom Leen of Carsonville; 17 grandchildren: Katie, Brian and David Leen, Brendan, Marin and Quinlan Western, Michael, Keegan, Thomas, Patrick and Molly Gallagher, Matthew, Hannah and Nicholas Leen, and Logan, Jason and Sarah Leen; two sisters, Marianne (Paul) Carrier and Peggy (Robert) Schlene; one brother, Brother Thomas Browne; and one brother-in-law, Patrick Cooke. Mike is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Anna Cooke. Mike was a friend to everyone that he met. He was happiest when he was with his family and when he could be laughing with them or making them laugh. He was always a teacher: teaching, coaching, and leading his children and grandchildren and anyone else that he came in contact with making a difference. Visiting hours will be at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Sandusky, Michigan on Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 1:00 -9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will be at the Washington Cemetery in Carsonville. Memorials may be given to the donation of your choice. A scripture and Rosary service will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel in Sandusky.
