Imogene Myers Obituary

Imogene "Imy" Eye Myers, age 87, passed away at the Twin Lakes Health Center in Burlington, North Carolina on March 26, 2016. She was married to the late William "Bill" Robert Myers of Mt. Jackson, VA for 58 years. Imogene was the youngest child of the late Benjamin Claude and Jane McQuain Eye of Pendleton County, West Virginia. She is survived by her oldest son, Gregory and his wife Julie of Burlington, and their children William, Erin Myers Pawelek and her husband Joe; a daughter, Lisa and her husband Stuart Campbell of Chapel Hill, and their children, Bryan and Matthew; and her youngest son, Douglas and his wife Connie of Denver, and their children, Seth and Sean.
Imogene attended Bridgewater College and worked at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where she met her husband, Bill. In 1987, she completed her college education, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. degree in English from North Carolina Central University. She was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church in Burlington, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Durham, and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Albans, West Virginia.
Imogene was a devoted wife and mother. She dedicated a great deal of her time to community service, including her church and volunteering in local schools tutoring young children. While in Durham, she and Bill opened their home to others as a part of the Duke Hospital Host Homes program. After retirement, Imogene and Bill enjoyed traveling both in the US and abroad.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Twin Lakes Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, April 2 at 1:30 pm. Friends and family are invited to visit after the service in the Peppertree Café at Twin Lakes. Memorials may be made to the Twin Lakes Auxiliary or the Macedonia Lutheran Church.
