James Ronald "Catfish" Cole Sr.

MEBANE - James Ronald "Catfish" Cole Sr., 79, of 612 N. Carr St., went to be with our Lord after a lengthy illness on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at his residence.
A native of Haw River, he was a retired contractor. He was employed with Tidewater Giant Oil Refinery from 1957-60 and worked for Automatic Totalizators out of Sydney, Australia, engineering electrical tote boards.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Mr. Cole was very family oriented and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed boating, too, and loved to travel to the mountains and enjoyed the casinos. He was also a hunter and taught both his boys and girls how to hunt and enjoyed working on cars with his sons. He enjoyed the Buckhorn Flea Market after he retired.
He lived in Mebane for 45 years, and his family has lived in the United States since 1750.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Kanicki "Terry" Cole, of the home; children, James Ronald Cole Jr., of Concord, Katheleen James, of Haymarket, Va., Sandra Jarrell, of Graham, Christopher Roger Cole Sr., of Burlington, and Michael Stanley Cole, of Mebane; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and favorite nephew, Glenn Cole, of Mebane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Martha Pearson Cole.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Paul Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Graham.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, other times at the residence.
