Burlington - Loura Burnette, 75, of Mebane, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 after a four-year battle with Alzhiemer's and vascular dementia.
Mrs. Burnette was born in Greensboro, but raised in Glen Raven. She was the wife of the late Leroy Burnette, and the daughter of the late William Issac Kornegay and the late Ida Jeffries Enoch.
Mrs. Burnette graduated from Jordan Sellars High School, class of 1964 and retired from the Alamance-Burlington City Schools and as a receptionist for Elon Alumni Office.
She was a member of Bethsada Baptist Church in Mebane.
Mrs. Burnette is survived by her son, Patrick Burnette and wife, Crystal, of Graham; daughter, Charity Werts and husband, Blake, of Charlotte; grandchildren, Brandon Burnette, of Charlotte and Aliyah Burnette of Graham; two sisters, Carmelita Gilliam of Burlington and Remonia Enoch of Green Level, three aunts, Jean Whitmore of Norwalk, CT, Joann Davis, of Burlington and Jessie Mae Graves of Mebane; sister-in-law, Marie Chavis and husband, Warner and a brother-in-law, Clarence Burnette of Graham.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 30, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington.
There will be a memorial service at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 31 in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. William Wilson, Pastor of Bethsada Baptist Church in Mebane.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to AuthoraCare Collective, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
At the family's request, everyone attending the visitation or service is asked to wear a mask.
