Robert Schertel Obituary

Robert "Bob" William Schertel, 80, of Bourne, Massachusetts passed away on April 2nd after a courageous battle with cancer. Robert was born on September 23, 1940 in Manchester, New Hampshire to William and Anna Schertel. After graduation from high school, Robert attended Southern New Hampshire University and then went on to work for 35 years as a National Pricing Manager at St. Johnsbury. Robert married his spouse, Linda Renner on July 5th, 1970 going on to have two children, Lisa and Stacey. In his spare time, he loved to travel (especially to Alaska), spend time outdoors sailing the waters of Buzzards Bay, fishing the Cape Cod Canal and riding his motorcycle. His latest love was sitting on the deck for hours on end and enjoying the barges, boats and trains on the canal. Many weekend's you could find Bob at the Monument Beach Gun Club with a cigar in hand hanging with friends waiting for his turn in the rotation.

Most of all, he was known to brag about his two daughters and all their activities and how proud he was to have them both. Stacey and Bob have been known to remodel kitchens, finish basements and build a shed. With Lisa, he was always asking about her job and what was new.

Robert is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Cline of Washington, D.C. and Stacey Dowell and her husband, Damon, of Mendon, MA, along with his wife Linda Schertel of Bourne, MA. Also, his niece Lindsay Schwartz and her husband, Jason, of Stow, MA and Kristen Swann and her husband, Kyle, of York, ME.

A memorial Service is planned for June 5th 2021 at 1PM at his home in Bourne, MA. The family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Pan-Mass Challenge in Robert's name.
