Thomas McDuffie Sr. Obituary

LEASBURG - Thomas Earl McDuffie Sr., 67, of 51 Frank Smith Road passed away Thursday February 11, 2010 at Person County Memorial Hospital, following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born in Caswell County, August 1, 1942, to the late Marshal Neal and Annie Church McDuffie. He was educated in Caswell County Schools, a long-distance truck driver for 40 years and a member of Leasburg Hunting Club. He was also a member of Griers Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Griers Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Richard LaDew. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors are wife, Annette S. McDuffie of the home; a daughter, Kristy Perry and husband Mark of Hillsborough; two sons, Thomas McDuffie Jr. and wife Lauren of Roxboro and James Wendell McDuffie of Axton, Virginia; one sister Mary Neighbors of Providence; brothers, James Robert McDuffie of Pelham and Neal McDuffie of Yanceyville; one brother-in-law, Wayne Collins of Chatham; and four grandchildren, Trey and Lauren McDuffie and Grace and Ty Perry.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Collins and a brother, Willie McDuffie.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home in Yanceyville and at other times at his residence.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Griers Presbyterian Church Building Fund, c/o Charles Smith, 143 Frank Smith Road, Leasburg, N.C. 27291.
Harrelson Funeral Service is assisting the McDuffie family with arrangements.
