Bobby Jack Craven

Mr. Bobby Jack Craven,
age 91, passed away
Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023
after a short illness.
A son of the late Barney
Lee Craven and Lallie Mae
Price Craven, he was born
Nov. 9, 1931 in Franklin
County, Georgia, having
lived most of his life in
Stephens County. He was
a member of St. James
United Methodist Church.
He was formerly employed
with Slack Auto Parts,
Penny's and retired from
management with Wal-
Mart. He later retired
from Stephens County
School Transportation
with 16 years of service.
He was a sweet man who
never met a stranger. He
was an avid gardener and
loved his tractors and
trucks. Most of all, he
loved spending time with
his grandchildren. He will
surely be missed by all, es-
pecially his small fuzzy
friend, Brisket.
In addition to his par-
ents, he was preceded in
death by a brother, Donald
Craven and a daughter,
Kimberly Hamilton.
Survivors include his
wife of the home, Carol
Mize Craven; sons and
daughter-in-law, Jeff
Simpson and Roger and
Fave Craven; son-in-law,
Ray Hamilton; grandchil-
dren, Caroline Hamilton,
Cole and Amber Hamilton,
Clint Craven and Christen
Gowder; six great-grand-
children; brother and sis-
ter-in-law, Royce and Cile
Craven; sisters, Janice Ca-
son, Linda Craven and
Daisy Alford; a number of
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, Sept. 30,
2023, at 2 p.m. in the Hill-
crest Chapel of the Acree-
Davis Funeral Home with
the Rev. Ricky McFarlin
and the Rev. Dennis
Wilkes officiating. The fol-
lowing gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Don Bell,
Don Griffin, Ben Dooley,
Jr., Daniel Barnes, Cole
Hamilton and Dale Meeks.
Honorary pallbearers
were Brad Craven, Alan
Craven and Dennis Brock.
The family received
friends at the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home on Satur-
day, at 12 p.m. until the
service time. Online con-
