Mrs. Jacqueline Ruth
Walker "Jackie" Miller,
age 85, of Lavonia, Ga.,
passed away Wednesday,
Sept. 17, 2025, after a mul-
ti-year long battle with
Alzheimer's at Manor
Lake Memory Care Facili-
ty in Hoschton, Ga.
Jackie was born Jan.
20,1940, in the Merritts
Community of Toccoa,
Ga., to the late Jack and
Ruth Walker. She was a
graduate of Stephens
County High School and
graduated from Anderson
Memorial Hospital Nurs-
ing School as a registered
nurse.
On Sept. 2, 1961, she
married her high school
sweetheart, James Miller.
They started their married
life in Toccoa and moved
on to Hartwell, Conyers,
Gainesville, Oakwood,
Lavonia, and Clayton. Af-
ter her children reached
school age she returned to
nursing as an orthopedic
nurse at Northeast Medi-
cal Center in Gainesville.
After retiring from nurs-
ing, she worked in the pay-
roll office of Quality Foods
in Commerce, Ga.
Jackie and James were
avid UGA fans and were
season ticket holders and
also enjoyed traveling to
away games. They trav-
eled with family and
friends to many destina-
tions including numerous
cruises and foreign coun-
tries. Jackie was a mem-
ber of Lavonia Presbyteri-
an Church, where she and
James were instrumental
in starting a mobile food
pantry. She and James
worked tirelessly in help-
ing with the monthly food
distribution.
In addition to her par-
ents, Jackie was preceded
in death by her in-laws,
Cliff and Sara Miller; her
husband of 61 years,
James Miller; son, Jimmy
Miller; infant sons Bret
and Jeffrey Miller; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Lau-
ra and Joe Scott; Jane and
Ken Burns; brothers-in-
law, David Miller and Ron-
nie Whiten; and a niece,
Michelle Miller.
Jackie is survived by
her daughters and sons-in-
law, Debie Miller and
Stanley Cooper, and Sonya
and Lee Best, all of Brasel-
ton; son and daughter-in-
law, Stanley and Jamie
Miller, of Lavonia; grand-
children, Cliff Best, Justin
and Kimberly Best, Ashley
and Adam Cave, Kelsey
and TJ Mobley, Avery
Miller and Eric Miller;
great-grandchildren,
Bailee Best, Maxley,
Raylee, and Mayleigh
Best, Sydney, Caroline,
and William Cave, Sawyer
and Walker Mobley. sis-
ters-in-law and brother-in-
law, Mary Ann Whiten
and Sara and Ralph Kel-
lar, all of Greenville, S.C.,
and Cathy Miller of
Gainesville, Ga.; and a
host of nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
The family received
friends at the mortuary
from 6-8 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 20, 2025, and 2-2:45
p.m. on Sunday prior to
the service.
Funeral services were
held at 3 p.m., Sunday,
Sept. 21, 2025, from the
Chapel of Whitlock Mortu-
ary with the Rev. Jennifer
Horton officiating.
Burial followed at
Stephens Memorial Gar-
dens.
