John Cowan Obituary

Mr. John P. Cowan, age
92, of Toccoa, passed away
Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, at
Home Sweet Home in Toc-
coa.
A son of the late Ernest
Cowan and Madelle Smith
Cowan, he was born in
Lubbock, Texas. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He lived in Boulder, Colo. ,
where he retired from the
University of Colorado as
an electrical engineer with
a number of years of ser-
vice. He moved to
Gainesville, Ga., in 2019,
and most recently lived in
Toccoa. He was part of the
Toccoa Assembly of God.
In addition to his par-
ents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Sue
Thomas Cowan and by a
step-son, Bobby Thomas.
Survivors include his
children, Pamela Cowan,
of Murrayville, Ga.,
Michael (Denise) Cowan,
of Dahlonega, Ga., Daniel
Cowan, of Murrayville,
Ga., and Rev. Lester Cow-
an (Linda), of Toccoa; step-
son, Kenneth (Leslie)
Thomas, of White Fish,
Mont.; numerous grand-
children and great-grand-
children.
To honor his wishes, he
will be cremated. The fam-
ily will have a memorial
service at a later date.
