Nancy Barbour

Mrs. Nancy Gamble
Barbour, age 73, of Toccoa,
Georgia, passed away
peacefully on Wednesday,
August 13, 2025, at Pruitt
Health-Toccoa.
Born on June 17, 1952,
in LaGrange, Ga., Nancy
was the beloved daughter
of the late Harold and Eva
Margaret Gamble. She
pursued a career in dental
hygiene, graduating from
the Medical University of
South Carolina as a regis-
tered dental hygienist. Her
dedication to the field led
her to work in various
dental practices through-
out the Carolinas and to
share her expertise as an
instructor at Spartanburg
Technical College during
the 1980's.
In 1990, Nancy relocat-
ed with her family to Toc-
coa, where she lovingly de-
voted herself to raising
her children. She later re-
turned to her profession,
serving patients in several
local dental offices. Her
compassion and commit-
ment to helping others ex-
tended beyond dentistry,
as she also worked at the
Toccoa Mental Health clin-
ic before joining the
Stephens County School
System. She retired in 2014
to embrace her cherished
role as a grandmother.
A devoted member of
St. Mary Catholic Church
for 35 years, Nancy gave
generously of her time as a
Sunday school teacher,
youth group leader, and
member of the Ladies
Guild. Her faith, warmth,
and service touched many
lives in her community.
Nancy was preceded in
death by her husband of 50
years, Lawrence Charles
"Larry" Barbour. She is
survived by her children:
Chuck and Rachelle Bar-
bour. of Bethlehem, Ga.;
Lange and Jordan Flow-
ers, of Rome, Ga.; Marlee
and Ryan Fleming, of Cor-
nelia, Ga. She was a proud
grandmother to Maizee
Fleming, Ellie Barbour,
Declan Fleming, Ava Bar-
bour, and Charlotte Bar-
bour. She is also survived
by her sisters; Sandra
Gaines (Walter), and Bren-
da McKevlin (Tom).;
brothers-in-law; Rick Bar-
bour (Patty), and Bill Bar-
bour; sister-in-law, Laura
Godfrey, and several
nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass cele-
brating Nancy's life will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
Aug. 23, 2025, at St. Mary
Catholic Church in Toc-
coa. The family will re-
ceive friends at the church
one hour prior to the
mass. After the mass, a re-
ception will be held in the
church parish hall.
