Samuel Soesbee Obituary

Samuel Richard Sose-
bee, age 93, of Toccoa,
passed away peacefully at
his home on Saturday,
Sept. 27, 2025.
Born Aug. 29, 1932, in
Toccoa, Ga., he was the
son of the late John S.
Sosebee and Birdie Mae
Farmer Sosebee.
Sam was a graduate of
Toccoa High School and
attended Piedmont College
and the University of
Georgia. He began work at
an early age in his family's
restaurant, Dixie Lunch,
in downtown Toccoa. He
worked there as owner/op-
erator until the late 70's.
Sam was also the manager
of the Unicoi State Park
restaurant until he re-
tired. He served as a
Stephens County commis-
sioner during the mid
1990's and was a dedicated
public servant to the citi-
zens of Stephens County
during his term in office.
He was a member of the
Toccoa Elks Lodge for 53
years. Sam never met a
stranger and enjoyed life
to the fullest. He enjoyed
talking politics, especially
at Bethel's Barber Shop
with all of his friends back
in the day. One never had
to guess at how he felt
about a particular subject.
He was an avid trout fish-
erman, outdoorsman,
loved to travel, and he
knew how to bring a smile
to everyone that was
around him. He loved our
Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, was a dedicated
Christian, and a member
of Old Toccoa Baptist
Church.
Family members in-
clude his wife, Andrea
Sosebee; son, Bud Sosebee
and wife, Traci; grandchil-
dren, Julia Sosebee and
John Sosebee; niece Susan
Turner and husband, Bill;
nephew, Buster Smith and
wife, Vicki.
In addition to his par-
ents, he was preceded in
death by his daughter,
Claire Sosebee; brother,
Jack Sosebee; three sis-
ters, Ruth Tucker, Chris-
tine Byrd, and Joyce
Smith; and several nieces
and nephews.
A memorial service will
be held at 11 a.m. Satur-
day, Oct. 25, 2025, at Old
Toccoa Baptist Church
with the Rev. Roger Elrod
officiating.
Honorary Escorts are
Charles Dickerson, Gerald
Shedd, Dan Steele, and
Kenny Payne.
