Virginia Smith Obituary

Mrs. Virginia Jean
Crawford Smith, age 92, of
Toccoa, passed away Mon-
day, Dec. 8, 2025, at the
Wilkinson Center in Toc-
coa, surrounded by her
family.
A daughter of the late
Clyde and Laura Davis
Crawford, she was born
May 20, 1933, in Franklin
County, Georgia, having
lived most of her life in
Stephens County. She was
a graduate of Eastanollee
High School and attended
Perry Business School in
Gainesville. Her employ-
ment history throughout
her years included WAB-
CO, owned by R.G. Le-
Tourneau, The Bank of
Toccoa, Community Devel-
opment and Eastanollee
Elementary School.
She met Jack R. Smith
on a blind date set up by
his brother. They fell in
love and married on May
8, 1954, at Sunshine
Methodist Church. To-
gether, they built a life
that was founded on faith
and family. She was a life-
time active member of
Toccoa First Methodist
Church where she served
faithfully in many posi-
tions. She was a member
of Pilot Club, Horti Floral
Garden Club and the His-
torical Society. She loved
playing in the dirt and had
a strong green thumb.
Virginia and Jack, to-
gether raised three beauti-
ful women, Kerri (David)
Hogsed, of Charlotte, N.C.,
Jacki (Phillip) Benefield,
of Gainesville, Ga., and
Traci (Chris) Stephens of
Toccoa, Ga.; eight grand-
children, Jake Mize
(Maghan), Sarah Barrett,
Jeffery Smith (Lindsey),
Paul Mize, Karli Hogsed,
Spencer Smith (Kayla),
Laura Lane (Brandon) and
Leah Stephens; nine great-
grandchildren, Kaylie,
Cooper, Isabell, Bryson,
Crawford, Lena, Kirby,
Kendall and Tatum. She
loved her family and was a
loyal friend.
In addition to her par-
ents, Clyde and Laura
Crawford, she was preced-
ed in death by her hus-
band, Jack R. Smith, in-
fant son, Jeff Smith, sis-
ters, Mary C. Charles and
Sherry Crawford Pitts and
her in-laws, Arthur and
Willie B. Smith and Fran-
cis Davis Smith.
Funeral services will be
Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, at 12
p.m. at Toccoa First
Methodist Church with
the Rev. April Briant and
the Rev. Bill Hyndman of-
ficiating. Family members
to serve as pallbearers;
Jake Mize, Jeffery Smith,
Spencer Smth, Chris
Stephens, Sarah Barrett
and Karli Hogsed. Family
members to serve as hon-
orary pallbearers, Paul
Mize, Laura Lane, Leah
Stephens, Kaylie Barrett,
Cooper Barrett, Isabell
Mize and Bryson Smith.
The family will receive
friends at the Toccoa First
Methodist Church on Fri-
day from 10 a.m. until the
service time at 12 p.m. On-
line condolences may be
left for the family at
www.acree-davisfh.com.
Flowers are optional.

the Stephens Memorial
Gardens with the Acree-
Davis Funeral Home and
Crematory in charge of the
arrangements for Mrs.
Virginia Crawford Smith.
