November 21, 2025

MOUNTAIN CITY - Charles J. Crosswhite, age 77 of Mountain City, TN, passed away on Friday evening November 21, 2025 at his home. He was born December 18, 1947 in Avery County, NC to the late Sherman Crosswhite and Nellie Harper Crosswhite. In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by his sisters, Opal Crosswhite, Marjorie Horne, Shirley Brown and Wanda Wengel; one brother, J.E. Crosswhite.

Charles was a postal worker for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and Army Reserves.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Edna (Jonnie) Crosswhite, daughter, Crystal Laudermilk and husband Jeff; sons, Curtis Crosswhite and wife Amanda and Christopher Crosswhite and wife Misty; step children, Tracy Proffitt Stout and husband Bob and Jamie Proffitt and wife Angie; several loving grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service for Charles will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Crosswhite Cemetery in Shady Valley, TN with Pastor Bill Morefield to officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
