Etoila Woods Franklin, 96, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 in Elgin SC. Born in Mountain City, TN. She loved her hometown and returned often, instilling a love for Johnson County in her children and grandchildren. At 80 years old she climbed Backbone Rock. She was the daughter of the late Richard Izer Woods and Myrtle Winters Woods. Mrs. Franklin was the wife of the late John Franklin. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of the Relief Society, and a Primary teacher. She retired from the Horry County Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria at Myrtle Beach Jr. High and later Myrtle Beach Primary School. She enjoyed ceramics, collecting dolls, spending time, and cooking for her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas Franklin of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Linda Franklin Moore of Camden; grandchildren, Rebecca Herrington (Chris), John David Franklin, Kaylor Franklin (Nichole), Brittni Kotara (Duane), Michael Moore (Kelsea), Matthew Moore (Marliesse), and Ashlin Moore (John); Great-grandchildren, Reginald Neville, Jr, Jada Franklin, Cameron Franklin, Chloe Franklin, Genavie Kotara, Aria Kotara, Avari Kotara, Gwyneth Kotara, Chase Moore, Brendan Moore, and Elena Moore; a daughter-in-law, Brigette Franklin; special nieces, Edna Crosswhite (Charles), Nancy Tyner (Lacy), and Gloria Taylor, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews of Mountain City. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son David Glen Franklin, son-in-law Mark Alison Moore, grandchildren Jeremy Chad Franklin, Jordan Kotara, and Aydan Kotara, siblings Earl Woods, Ralph Woods, Paul Woods, Dallas Woods, Louise Shores, and Irene Taylor.
The family would like to express appreciation to Hospice caregivers April Montgomery, Ebony Glover, and Terena Campbell, and The Blake at Woodcreek Farms for their excellent care.
