Junior David Howard, age 78 passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at The Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on February 14, 1946 to the late David and Lula Howard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Howard and Edd Howard, and a sister, Janice Howard.
Junior was a very talented musician and played the banjo for many years. He loved playing the old bluegrass songs and some gospel songs as well. He played in several bands and enjoyed getting together with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, watching game shows on T.V., and mowing his yard. He loved his cat, Pewter. Junior was of the Baptist Faith. He had a good sense of humor and loved to joke and make others laugh.
Survivors include two sisters, Joyce Brewer and Lulabell Meade, nieces, Donna Carpenter, Lisa Wilson (Billy), Kathy Brewer, Barbara Hicks (William), Becky Brewer, Jessica Dillard, Missy Snyder (Donald), Sue Ann Meade, Pamela Meade as well as great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the nurses, doctors, CNA's and all staff of the Mountain City Rehabilitation Center and AMED Hospice.
The funeral service for Junior will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in the Charles B. Hux Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Leonard Fletcher officiating. Music will be provided by Cortney Wilson, Missy Snyder, Kenneth Price and Lois Dunn. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Graveside service will immediately follow at the Rainbow Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Kenneth Price, Bailey Epperly, Isaiah Meade, Gavin Meade, Jamie Icenhour, Gene Canter, Rick Miracle and James Brewer.
At other times friends may visit the family at 1444 Rainbow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, home of Becky Brewer.
