Edward Shirley Obituary
Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Edward "Ed" Shirley, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013, at The Church of the Pentecost, Ball, with Reverends Doug Westberry and Lamar Guillot officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and continued Thursday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Ed, 61, of Libuse, passed from this life on Monday, June 24, 2013.
Ed was a member of New Life Harvest Tabernacle, Libuse and was the proud owner and operator of Ed's Welding for 25 years. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who loved working with his hands and took pride in everything he did. He was a man of faith that knew the word of God and he never met a stranger and would do anything it took to help someone. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
His parents, Albert Henry III and Loula Terrell Shirley, preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 32 years, Diana Hillman Shirley; son, Eddie Shirley, Jr.; brothers, Albert Henry Shirley IV, John Shirley, Charles Shirley, Sr. and Robert Shirley; sisters, Katherine S. Blanchard, Susan Shirley and Doris S. Reynolds; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Eddie Shirley, Jr., Quintin Smith, Charlie Shirley, Jason Shirley, Jacob Clanton and John Forrest Shirley.
Honorary pallbearer will be Scott Beassie.

Eddie and I were best of friends growing up together. We went to the same church, same schools and graduated the same year. He was always a good friend to me back then and even though we have not been in touch for awhile, he will be missed.

Dear Diana and Dewey,
I know that words are inadequate at a time like this but I wanted you to know how very sorry I am for your loss. The loss of a spouse is a tragic event and I am praying for the pain and suffering you are experiencing.
It is times like this that our faith is put to the test. We know that we must accept Eddie's passing and give thanks for the wonderful life he lived. As sad as it will be, we will always have the memory of him to hold in our hearts.
The Bible reminds us that "Blessed are those that mourn for they shall be comforted." I pray that this will be especially true for you as you mourn your loss.
I pray that God will give you the strength to see you through this sad and difficult time. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all.

Sister Diane, We are so sorry for the lost of Bro Ed. You were both so sweet to us and made us feel so welcome at church when we were so in need of friendship and love. Our hearts sincerely grieve for you and your family. In the short time that we knew Bro. Eddie, both you and he were special folks in our lives. You came into our lives when we needed your friendship the most and for that we will be forever grateful. I remember our grandson visting with us one Sunday. He was the only one in your and Bro.
