Hilda Brown Obituary
Funeral services celebrating the life of Dr. Hilda Brown will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Dr. Chris Thacker and Dr. Bradley Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria Friday, April 14, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and continued Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Laroy Rushing, Zach Rushing, Tanner Brown, Bruce Bridges, Wade Rushing, Ricky Tealsey, Teddy Ashley, Gary Rushing and Randy Rushing.
Mrs. Brown, 71, of Woodworth, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Baptist Hospital Health Center in Mississippi.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Alexandria where she was the chairperson of the H2O committee and she was formerly a member of Horseshoe Drive Baptist Church, Alexandria. Hilda was a Registered Nurse for 50 years including positions as the Chair of the Nursing program at the University of Louisiana Monroe as an Instructor of Nursing with both the LSU and Northwestern State University. Hilda was a graduate of Tylertown High School, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) Medical Center and received her PhD from Grambling State University. She was an RN and Nursing Instructor and was currently employed at Pine Prairie Nursing Home. She loved sewing and traveling, but spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren was her greatest love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Henry and Annie Gann Rushing and brother, Doye Rushing.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 48 years, Milton Brown; sons, Jay Brown and his significant other Karen Comeaux and John C. Brown and his significant other Candice Parish; brothers, Zack Rushing and his wife Rosemary and Laroy Rushing and his wife Nan; sister, Peggy Bridges; grandchildren, Brandon Kelly, Magan Kelly, Brittney Brown, Tanner Brown and Rei'dynn Veillon; a host of other family members and friends.

So sorry to hear of Hilda's passing! We enjoyed meeting her at water aerobics, and seeing her monthly at the homeless outreach at Emmanuel parking lot. A very special lady.

Hello all,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Hilda was a great cousin. A special memory of mine was when Hilda and Aunt Hazel came to Michigan for a visit. Hilda talked me into taking her into Canada. It was a wild trip, but, we had a lot of fun. It was some good bonding time between her and I. Sending prayers and lots of love.

I was shocked and saddened to read of Hilda's passing. Although I have not seen her in many years, I remember how sweet and kind she always was to me and my daughters. My deepest condolences to Milton, her sons and all of her family and friends.

Remembering my dear friend from nursing school over 50 years ago! So glad to have seen Hilda at our reunion last Saturday even though she was in great pain at the time. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family during this time of sadness over her sudden loss. In loving memory of Hilda.

Weekends at work will definitely be different now. Mrs Hilda was always on top of getting in touch with Dr's to get her residents what they needed. RIP Mrs Hilda.
