Jadwin Mayeaux Obituary
Mayeaux, Sr.
Services celebrating the life of Jadwin "Jaddy" Mayeaux will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Father Craig Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens.
The family asks that visitation be observed Tuesday morning at the funeral home, from from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
Jaddy, 82, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Summit Retirement Center.
A native of Cottonport and graduate of Moreauville High School, he went on to proudly serve our country in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1951at which time he then returned to Louisiana to attend and graduate at Northwestern State University in 1955 with a BS in Social Work. He coached in all sports at St. Mary's, Alexandria and was Regional Director of the Juvenile Youth Services. Active for many years, in the community and in the Boy Scouts of America Troop #20 he was a member of the Order of the Arrow (Scouting's National Honor Society) and St. Rita's Catholic Church, Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Elisean Mayeaux; brothers, Marion Mayeaux, Lewis Mayeaux, Jr., Albin Paul Mayeaux; sisters, Irma Bryan, Josephine Gutterez, Elisean Mayeaux and Georgia Botzong.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Olivia "Sissy" Mayeaux of Alexandria; son, Col. Jadwin V. Mayeaux, Jr. and wife, Nanette Mayeaux of Port Allen; daughter, Terri Mayeaux Ford and husband, Cecil Darrin Ford of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Nicholas Mayeaux and Jadwin Ford and one great-grandchild, Emma Grace Ford.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148-0142.

Mrs Mayeaux, my mother was in Matthews Memorial when Mr Mayeaux was also. He would come out & eat dinner w/us & he loved to talk to my 10 yr old & speak french to him. He was a lovely lovely man. My deepest sympathies to you & your family.

My deepest sympathies and love to you all. I am truely saddened by the loss of Mr. Mayeaux, he was a very important part of my childhood, a role model and someone I respected and admired. He was so good to all of us on Grant Drive, all the kids in the old neighborhood will remember him fondly. Just a wonderful, good man.
