Joseph Gaynor Pugh
Joseph Gaynor Pugh, 73, of Trout, left this earth for his pain free home in Heaven on Monday, July 5, 2021. Mr. Pugh was born June 25, 1948, to the union of Ferbia Greene Pugh and Whitmell Hill Pugh. He graduated from Monterey High School and attended Northeast Louisiana University before taking on such endeavors as tying steel at the locks and dam structure in Columbia and on skyscrapers in Miami, then taking over the family cotton and soybean farm. In addition to being a lifelong cattleman, Mr. Pugh's true expertise, working in the oilfield, started when he was still in high school, working as a roustabout on the weekends and holidays. After farming, he enjoyed the challenge of being an oilfield consultant for over 40 years. It gave him great joy to give advice and to mentor those starting out in the industry. Mr. Pugh was steadfast, loyal, and above all, an extremely generous man- always giving of his time and knowledge. His greatest joy was receiving texts and videos from his grandchildren and their personal, one on one discussions about life's challenges and their daily experiences.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melba Poole Pugh; his daughters Johanna Pugh (Wayne Bridges) of Dallas, TX, and Brandi Pugh Poole (Clay) of Portland, AR; his son Jarred Pugh (Nicki) of Trout; eight grandchildren, Katie Guidry (Cliff), Todd Bridges, Lucie Pugh, Ella Grace Poole, Lila Pugh, Ava Clayton Poole, Laurel Pugh, and Lachlan Pugh; two great grandchildren, Kaden Bloxum and Colin Guidry; one brother, T. D. Pugh (Lillian), one sister, Joyce Spinks (Phillip); a host of nieces and nephews; and numerous lifelong friends and business associates. Mr. Pugh is preceded in death by his parents, Ferbia and Tim Pugh, a sister, Connie Smith, and a brother, Bill Pugh.
Special thanks to his caregivers and friends from LaSalle Home Health and All Saints Hospice, Dr. William McBride, Dr. Bassam Abi-Rached, as well as neighbors and church friends, who offered visits and prayers.
A private graveside ceremony will be officiated by Bro. Terry Townsend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
