Funeral services for Ruby Vee Warner Meeker Townsend will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Bunkie with Rev. LeMon Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pythian Cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Mrs. Townsend, age 90, of Bunkie passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Baily House.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John L. Meeker and second husband, J.A. "Gus" Townsend; two sisters and her twin sister, Minnie Portune;one brother and her daughter-in-law, Linda D. Meeker.

She is survived by a daughter, Laura Sanders and husband, Ed, of Hillsboro, Oregon; three sons, John Meeker and wife, Monica, of Zachary, Don Meeker and wife, Ruth, of Alexandria and Sammy Meeker and wife, Charlene, of Minden; three step-sons, James Townsend and wife, Ruth, of Bunkie, Marion Townsend and wife, Peggy, of Bunkie and Carlton Townsend and wife, Fran, of Bunkie; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Meeker, Craig Sanders, Ryan Portune, Thomas Townsend, Byron Townsend and Ralph Townsend.

The family would like to give special thanks to Rose Daniels, her faithful helper, Monica Hernandez and all the staff at the Bailey House and the Christus Hospice of St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

Visitation will be at Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 9 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
