Sarah was my classmate at St. James Catholic School and we graduated in 1953. Sarah was always a friendly person. My condolence goes to her family.

It was an honor to be on the same teaching staff with Sarah B Hawkins at Lessie Moore Elementary under Henry E. Shorter. As stern as she presented herself, she also had a very gentle and generous side. I will never forget the many times she showed her compassion during times of sickness and death in my family. She was "one of a kind", so I will miss her and always hold onto those wonderful memories. The world would be a better place if more people showed those kinds of Christian traits!

Mrs. Hawkins was a Diva that everyone admired and strived to be like. She was a special teacher and a great friend. When she entered the room, you knew that a lady was present. With her quiet disposition and elegant mannerism, she expressed her concerns differently. She was a true Christian in character and action. She will be missed tremendously !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Mrs Hawkins was also my 5th grade teacher. She and I used to bump heads a lot but I can say she was my best teacher along side of Mrs Baker from PJH. You will be greatly Mrs Hawkins!

Mrs. Hawkins is one of those teachers you never forget. She was a great teacher who made sure you learned in her class and also a great person outside of the school. She will be missed.

Mrs. Hawkins was my 5th grade teacher at Lessie Moore Elem. Although I can recall all of my elementary teachers and the impact these ladies had upon my elementary education, Mrs. Hawkins I remember quite vividly. Mrs. Hawkins didn't waste her time entertaining foolishness. She'd ask you, "Who's name is above that door?" It says Sarah B. Hawkins. When you entered her room, one knew he/she was there to learn. I have fond memories of not only Mrs. Hawkins, but her co-workers as well. Mrs. Hawkins used to tell Mr. Slim(Charles Shelton) grease that belly and slide on in". May her soul rest in peace! Thanks Mrs. Sarah B. Hawkins.

She was also one of my favorie teachers. She gave me a silver dollar for making straight A's and inspired me to test for gifted classes. She is forever etched in my memory and holds a special place in my heart! She will be missed but not forgotten!.....Amy Hinton(Pineville, La.)

I am 38 yrs old and Mrs. Hawkins was my 5th grade teacher at Lessie Moore Elementary. What a special lady she was. She loved each and everyone of her students and was a great influence on many of us young ladies. I think of her often. What a classy lady she was! My prayers are with this family and I hope they find peace knowing she is safe in the arms of Jesus.

Mrs. Hawkins was my favorite teacher at Lessie Moore Elementary back in 1975. She was a caring, compassionate person who treated all her students with respect and equality. I can't tell you who taught me in most elemetary grades, but Mrs. Hawkins I remember well. She made an impact on my life and I will never forget her. My sympathies to all her family as I am sure she has had a much larger impact on your lives and she will be sadly and tremendously missed by all.
